BUILD & DESIGN
The sleek design and InfinityEdge display are still present and correct. It’s smaller than the previous one, but the distinction between the 9370 (2018 model) and 9360 are so limited on size, and it’s barely to recognize the differences.
But, it may be the opposite for someone very familiar with the XPS line up.
As we already know, the predecessor (XPS 13 9360) is adequate in terms of portability, and maybe, that’s why the manufacturing company doesn’t make much improvement on this model.
Moreover, featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 4 makes it twice as damage resistant when compared to most of its competitors.
The unit under review comes with a silver color, fiber carbon, and the woven glass of the palm rest. It delivers a remarkable strength with minimal weight.
Additionally, according to Dell, this device is designed from a single chunk of aluminum, which is more durable than other products that are fit together.
The power button at the top-right of the keyboard plate installs with the fingerprint sensor ability, and you can use that to log into your Windows 10.
In short, the design remains excellent with some additional feature improvements.
KEYBOARD & TRACKPAD
The keyboard design quality is one of the critical attraction which comes with the XPS 13 model, and it has been since the year 2015.
So, there are possibilities in which Dell may change or reduce the keyboard standard by the redesign.
Fortunately, most of their consumer responses with mostly constructive comments about the keyboard, so the keyboard remains incredible.
This keyboard is a backlit, chiclet-style, and the keys have 1.3 millimeters of travel. The made out of glass trackpad is average in size (4.1 X 2.4-inch) and has provided with more accuracy for the user.
This means the touchpad has an impressive reaction and able to evenly picks up multi-touch commands and Windows 10 Touchpad Gestures without issue.
As for the connectivity, the Dell XPS 13 9370 delivers you with a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port that can output DisplayPort video. Moreover, this unit also features two high-speed Thunderbolt 3 ports.
This kind of ports can charge the laptop and connect to high-speed peripherals like the eGPU (External Graphic Card).
However, with the redesign and slimming of the XPS 13, the manufacturer has dropped the previous model’s full-sized USB 3.1 ports(Type-A).
On XPS 13 9370 (2018) model style, Dell also changes the camera placement from the lower-left corner of the bezel to the center bottom. As for the image quality, it has 0.92 megapixels (720p), which generally comes with other modern laptops today.
Considering the price point, the IR camera and regular Webcam should have been better. With the IR camera, you can easily log into Windows 10.
The mentioned model with 1080p display quality doesn’t support the touchscreen capability, but the XPS 13 under review today is a 4K screen option that supports the ability.
As claimed by many of the XPS 13 users about display quality, both models offered impressive brightness, color quality, and sharpness. And, of course, the 4K screen was far way better than the monitor with 1080p quality.
The manufacturer claims that the user will experience the most extended battery life of any 13-inch laptop is up to 10 hours, 31 minutes on a UHD model when using standard apps like word processing and data entry.
The real battery life may be significantly less than the test results, which claims by Dell and a little differs, as it determines by many aspects.
It includes product configuration, software, networking, usage, operating conditions, power management settings, and other computing factors.
Dell XPS 13 9370 is an excellent, small-factor, and very productive Windows laptop at the current market today. It’s not for gaming, but with the Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated graphics card, you can play some games at low settings and do light video editing.
Plus, with the Core i7-8550U CPU, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 4K touch screen, you can view web content with multiple tabs open, writing, playing light games and running other apps without any issues.
